  1. I don't know anything about you. You tell ME why you should be given the position over the other candidates.

  2. It sounds as if you are preparing for an interview.  If you have experience in working with people with special needs, you can cite your job history.  Be sure you have some specific examples that demonstrate your skills, patience, etc.  (Something like, "When I worked with a student who is autistic, I really learned a lot about how I could assist him by structuring his work in a clear, logical, and consistent set up.  It made a big difference in his ability to complete his work successfully.  I also learned how important it was for him to have an appropriate means for communicating his wants and needs, and what a big difference that made in his behavior."  This is just an example - use one from your own life, and be prepared to give specifics, like how you set up his work, or what communication system you used.)

If you don't have previous experience in working with special needs students, think about other experiences that have given you transferable skills.  Kids who have special needs are kids first, so any experience you have had, as a camp counselor or soccer coach or tutor, can be relevant.  All these things have to do with organizing, taking responsibility, dealing with different personalities and learning styles, and teaching.  Again, be prepared with an example or two of situations that gave you some insight that could be relevant to the job you are applying for.

Special ed is a very collaborative effort, so be sure to emphasize your ability to work with other staff members as well as your skill in working with people who have special needs.  Keep your discussion positive - demonstrate that you know that even the most challenging students have the ability to learn and grow, and that you are eager to continue to learn, too.

  3. I assume you think this will be a question at interview?  You need to think about the particular strengths you have.  E.g. are you patient, tolerant, get on well with people?  Think of some  of your characteristics which you can use to answer this.  My advice is - don't just trot them out but give examples where you can.  I'd rather have one example than a reeled off list.  Think about the kinds of jobs you've had in the past - what qualities did you display - how might they fit with this question?

  4. Because you drove on the short bus to school.

  5. thats for you to tell your interviewer not for us to tell you.

  6. maybe because they think your better fit for the job, could have more experience in the field, seniority.

  7. you tell me
