  1. www.mfea.com

  2. The work like stocks but keep you more diversified than you could on your own.  They monitor the individuals stocks moving in and out of them.  By buying a mutual fund you are joining a stock team so you can greater returns based on your volume.

  3. don't invest in mutual funds. if they lose money... so do you. while guaranteed investment plans offer less interest they are a lot safer and you don't lose your capital if things go wrong.

  4. Low risk, slow yield

Better for something long term like a college fund started for your kid as soon as they're conceived!

  5. Mutual Funds are good because they almost always beat the return from a savings account over time (especially with the current ridiculously low interest rates). They work by investing your money in a wide variety of stocks, other than just one. They are generally considered a great long term investment to slowly grow your money for retirement, you definitely won't get rich quick though, as you can expect a 5-10 percent return per year.
