  1. 1. It is converting an renewable and unlimited energy source

    the sun.

    2. There is no pollutants to the environment.

    3. It is economical over a lifetime.

  2. it doesn't hurt the environment and wil be here a long time.  Passive solar methods work also.  I used to have large 1" think windows covering 20'  of my roof (it's a gambrel roof).

The windows faced south so we got the sun all winter (when the leaves were down). It could be 10 degrees out and the house was still warm.  When we needed to expand, they weren't replaced but I hope to rredo them at some point.  They were great for growing plants and herbs also.

  3. The only appropriate answer to any question starting with "Why" is:

    "Because!" or "Why not?"

  4. its good for you and you get less monthly bills to pay for once you get all initial expenses out of the way... you get to spend more of your money where you want it, and the energy will be around till even after you aren't anymore...

    Best wishes:)

  5. You should use it, but passively first.  You'd need a big system to run an electric hot-water heater, but why not just install a solar hot-water heater?  This way no energy is used in converting it to electric, then back to heat.  Also, use day-lighting technologies.  This way a sun-tunnel, or sola-tube, or similar product will provide light in your house during daylight hours, rather than converting from/to electric.  Then when you build your solar system, you no longer have to figure this time/energy in to the equation.

  6. because its renewable (ie "green"). its better for the environment.

  7. Well, it produces little energy per square metre, it's expensive to buy, and it requires additional inverters to power ordinary household things.

But it requires no maintenance, no fuel... The energy is free and the cells last for a very long time if you take care of them [Cleaning once in a while, not drawing too much power from them]

It's like instead of continuously paying for electricity, you buy it up front and then it just gives it to you whenever [If you have batteries, otherwise only during sunlight]

  8. Why, don't you like your ever increasing power bill ?

  9. it doesn't take any gas that puts polution in the air

  10. It's expensive to set up. But you will be independent from the whole system. The electric company might even owe you money.

  11. It's a renewable source, and releases no waste back into the environment. After you pay to set it up, it's possible that you'll never have another electric bill-on sunny days you'll store up power to use on cloudy days. You'll put excess power back into the grid for the public to use, which means less fossil fuels which are not renewable and release tons of pollutants. If you ever need energy from the grid, you get credits for what you've put in. What part of this isn't good?

  12. so we dont use up ant more fossil fuel because once its gone we have no more so we need an alternative
