  1. always needed it. remember Jeter's "home-run"? They should get replay. There was one week they messed up like 4 home run calls. If people are worried about the game going slow, they shouldn't care because the game is too slow now. Players have to take like 10 min. to fix their dumb batting gloves after every pitch.

  2. It shouldn't be brought in. I think the umps are doing fine for the most part.

  3. There have been many missed calls relating to home runs that weren't home runs, and ones that should've been called home runs that weren't.  Baseball never needed it before because there wasn't ever enough technology to get instant replay, but times have changed.

  4. but we DID need it before...mlb just doesn't want to have anything to do with it

listen, mistakes by umpires on matters of fact, such as whether a home run is fair or not or whether a runner is safe at a base, is not "part of the game", it's a mistake on a matter of fact, and it should be corrected if necessary...judgment calls by umps, such as whether a fan interfered with a play or not, are part of the game...now, to save time, i think we need to limit replay to fair/foul on home run and plays at home, but i hate when baseball purists tell me that s******g up is "part of the game", it's totally ridiculous to make that point

  5. It should stay the way it is if they bring in instant replay might as well get rid of the umps.

  6. Let me think.............. because when people started playing baseball, they didnt have the technology to see replays. Why not use it? It would make the game accurate. Think about Carlos Delgado's home run in Yankee Stadium a few months ago. That was rulled a double when clearly it was a home run. Later that same week, I beleive Jorge Posada hit a home run and it too was called a double.

  7. Using it sure could slow a game down and the game would lose alot of momentum...It is more of a supposed "sign of the times" but that does not make it good.

  8. It should be brought in because homeruns are being called wrong and clinching hits are being hit more often, but i know you all think it will take to long 2 or 3 minutes of your life maybe once or twice a game, then you should get over yourself and stop thinking your too good to wait 5 minutes to get a call right that "could" eventually decide between a team winning a division and a team losing it.

  9. Umpires making poor calls is a part of the game, you are correct. Unfortunately, that is happening more and more. Umpiring today is at an all time low. These clowns can't even tell which side of the foul pole a ball lands on. It's pathetic.

  10. becuase there are too many plays that happen that umpires call the wrong  way and it could cost teams big games thats why its needed, people say it gonna slow down the game but its not like a questinable play happens every second of the game

  11. Home run calls this season have been blown calls or questionable ones so this is why instant replay is being integrated in baseball. As much as I respect umpires, they are flawed, think of it like this: The post season game, game 7, 2 outs in the 9th a high drive is hit, the ball is called a double when it clearly shows on replay that the ball was a home run. Without replay, that team gets robbed of a walk off home run and that's not fair. However, I fear that in the future, MLB could further eliminate the need for an umpire by installing K-zone, a device that could possibly tell the person sitting at a computer whether a pitch is a ball or a strike, that would be going too far for baseball purists.

  12. i'm kind of hung on this one...i think that being able to verify whether a fly ball is a home run or not may be a legitimate use, and possibly a couple of other things...what i don't want to see is video being used so much that the game is completely stopped too often...

of course, anytime someone feels cheated by a bad call will cause them to want it...and those benefitting from a bad call will say that it all evens out in the end...

personally, i kind of like having two additional umpires on the foul lines like in the post season, and maybe even a third who could stand his post in deep centerfield to keep an eye on those long shots out there...and i might even go for a 'super ump' who could verify or negate certain baserunning calls...

in the end, no matter what you do, the result will be much like in football...remember, a lot of those video reviews still leave some question just because of angles...
