Why should one work hard?

I am confused.

I know we need to be good to others. not hurt them.

but all learned people, elders, parents say... "Work hard".... why?

Cant life be lived without any competitions... just enjoying... without working hard... just living.

Why?

Hey how do like living in that structure you call home?

Do you think it's easy building anything that has to stand against time?

Working hard builds character, builds resolve, personal self worth.

We are just made that way, look at history and see the results of not working hard.

Because if you never work hard, you never have a sense of accomplishment.  Nor can you enjoy what life has to offer because you don't learn the value of things--material or otherwise.  If everyone worked harder at things, the world would be a much happier place.  As it stands, we're a bunch of complacent complainers who think we're entitled to everything.

I know what you mean.

If you do not work hard, then you will have an extra time to enjoy.

but if you work hard, you will feel your heart is fulfilled.

You will feel something "oh I 've done it".
