  1. My reason for being a vegetarian, is because I love animals so why would I eat them? Plus you never know where the animal your eating is coming from and how it was treated, so...it would be horrible to eat a dead animal that was already poorly treated in it's life...it just seem disrespectful.

So if you decide to be a vegetarian, remember to make sure your getting all your nutrients. :)

I just read Kim R.s thing (answerer above me)....she's actually wrong about the teeth for eating meat, we onlt have four canine teeth, but the rest of our teeth were pretty much meant for eating and grinding up plants. Also our jaws can move backwards and forwards and side to side, also to help grind up plants. You will notice that a carnivorous animals teel are all "canine" teeth and their jaws won't move like ours.

It known the the first human beings were also gathers rather than hunters, and we maybe ate meat when the ice age began and the ground was to frozen to get plants.

  2. people should not eat meat because its fattening, leads to cardiovasuclar disease.

  3. I don't know about "should" but you certainly CAN if you choose to be one. As for reasons, they are your own and there is no need for further justification. Your right to choose is justification enough.

The American Diabetic Association states, and I quote:

"...Include fish in your meals 2-3 times a week.

Choose lean meats like cuts of beef and pork that end in "loin" such as pork loin and sirloin. Remove the skin from chicken and turkey.

Choose non-fat dairy such as skim milk, non-fat yogurt and non-fat cheese..." (http://www.diabetes.org/nutrition-and-re...

The ADA does not encourage vegetarian diets per se but  says a vegetarian diet CAN be a healthy alternative if done correctly. Neither does it say that an omnivorous diet is patently unhealthy as someone would like you to believe by their ADA quote. That is an outright lie to favor a specific lifestyle because the ADA does not.

  4. I, personally, am becoming a vegan simply for two reasons:

I want to eat a more environmentally friendly diet

I like animals, and it is my choice not to use them to eat, wear, et cetera.

  5. Well yes, it's wrong. Being slaughtered is really the quickest and less painful part of the animals life. Animals face cruelty their whole lives before being slaughtered, most of them never even breathe clean air. If you're not vegetarian for morale reasons, meat, especially red, recks havok and your health. A plus to vegetarianism: it reverses heart disease.

  6. Considering feed, slaughter and transportation of cattle, a 2.2 pound piece of beef consumes as much energy as a 100 watt light bulb lit for 20 days.

Much of the deforestation of the rainforests is to make way for cattle grazing.

Instead of a daily dose of beef, I consider it an occasional treat for those and other reasons, which also benefits my health.

  7. I think that you should defiantly become a vegetarian.  I can't imagine the fear, frustration, and pain that billions of helpless animals go through just to end up on someone's plate.  They live miserable, caged, lives on factory farms only to be driven hundreds of miles to the slaughter house where they may even bleed to death while fully awake.  Do it for the animals.  Also it is very hard on the planet.  Vegetarians have a much lower chance of getting certain illnesses than meat-eaters do. Just give it a try!

  8. i personally became vegetarian because i thought it wrong to eat innocent animals.

i respect it that the aborigines did it but they had to, they didn't have much else.

but these days we have a lot more to eat.

i hate animal cruelty and i think its animal cruelty eating them when you don't have to!

    = )

  9. www.meat.org!

  10. God gave me the teeth and digestive system of a meat-eater, and it's worked for us over the centuries, so I'm sticking to it. Plus, most meats are soooo yummy! Ever tried goat meat? Mmmm.

  11. I don't think it's wrong to kill an animal for food. I still don't eat them. (My ethical objections are with the meat industry, the environmental impact- including the overuse of fossil fuels, and some human rights issues.)

It's up to you whether or not it's wrong.

There are plenty of great reasons to go vegetarian that have nothing to do with ethics:

    - I personally feel better physically when I avoid meat.

    - I think a veggie diet tastes better.

    - It's cheaper!

    - Less risk of food-borne illness.

    - It's lower in saturated fat.

Don't let anyone tell you if or why to go vegetarian or not go vegetarian. It's your business and your business alone.

  12. That's great you're considering vegetarianism.

There's a general consensus in our society that it's ethically  wrong to set a cat on fire for entertainment. However, we don't need to eat meat to survive or be healthy.

(The American Dietetic Association says that "vegetarian diets are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases.")

We can be perfectly healthy on plant-based diets. So when we choose to eat meat, we're choosing to inflict death and suffering on others simply for the pleasure of tasting meat. Considering what goes on in factory farms and slaughterhouses, setting a cat on fire is actually relatively humane in comparison. In both cases, all that we gain in return is just a few moments of trivial pleasure.

You can check out http://www.tryveg.com for lots of food ideas, transition tips, and nutritional info. Hope this helps!

  13. 1.  Because the conditions in factory farms and slaughterhouses are inhumane and hellish.  This is enough reason, right there.  Even free-range, more humanely raised animals can end up in the same slaughterhouses, and deceptive product packaging can make it difficult to know how an animal was raised to begin with.

    2.  Because the mass production of meat is laying waste to the Earth's resources and harming the environment-- massive water use, clearing of forests, toxic run-off and even carbon dioxide emissions.

    3.  Because in what would be called "developed nations", we have such a wide variety of foods available to us that we don't need meat to fill our nutritional needs anymore, as we have in the past and as people arguably do in other places without such access.  Why should an animal have to die if it isn't necessary?  Simply because we enjoy eating meat?  That's not a good enough reason.

    4.  Because even though a moderate amount of meat won't hurt us and can be beneficial nutrition-wise, the massive over-consumption of meat (and other animal products) in the Standard American Diet is killing us, through heart disease and other conditions.  Also, today's meat animals are pumped full of antibiotics, growth hormones and chemicals-- including, in some cases, arsenic in chickens.  These chemicals simply can't be good for us.  It is my personal opinion that it is chemicals in animal products and processed foods that have caused the rise in cancer cases over the years.

  14. well, first think to yourself why do i want to become a vegetarian? i am a vegetarian and have been for 4 years, one day i saw a couple of really disturbing videos and i decided it was just horrible the way they were treated! also i thought about the health side of it, if i eat less fatty ****, im going to be healthier. . . dont rely on that alone though cos its not as true as it sounds, you can still eat chocolate!!! lol anyhoo i am a happy vegetarian and will not ever turn back to meat!!!there are plenty of deliciopus vegie meals too

  15. The toture of the animals

people were never supposed to eat gods creatures it even says in like porverb12:15 not too

would you eat a human being because the flesh is basically what we eat from them making it no different if we ate eah other like cannibles.

animals are the only ones designes by nature to have the stomach acids to digest meat humans do not thats why it rots and it has unhealthy saturated fats that eventually lead to health problems like cancer and heart attacks .

  16. Well I do not believe that eating meat is wrong but that is because I'm not a vegetarian.  I Used to be a vegetarian for 1 year but decided to switch back.  Its ok to try it out for a while  and if you decide to go back thats ok too.  Its not a permanent thing.  People are vegetarian because they care so much about animals and every time you eat meat you feel sad and guilty for this animal who was just killed to please your tummy.  It is much easier to be vegetarian now because there are so many soy products that taste very good!  My parents have been vegetarians for 30 years!!  You will know how strongly you feel about it and if you decide to eat meat again its no big deal.  When I first became vegetarian i started eating no fish, then chicken, then pork, then beef.  I realized that I didn't feel strongly enough to continue.  Good luck!  When you eat meat you will know if you want to give it up or not!

  17. Our digestive systems have evolved over hundreds of thousands of years as omnivorous. Indeed, many paleoanthropologists associate the initial development of human intellect with the inclusion by our early sancestors of meat with the vegetable diet of even earlier ancestors.

Aside from tasting good, an omnivorous diet has the advantage that it's difficult to develop deficiency diseases when eating a wide variety of animal and vegetable foods.

Vegetarians can stay healthy and avoid deficiency diseases, but it takes work and care to do it -- it's far from automatic. It's even harder for pure vegans, and worst of all for growing children raised on a pure vegetable diet.

  18. There is nothing wrong with being a vegetarian as long as you are dedicated, and you make sure that you are doing it healthily.

As to WHY you should do it ....
