Why should the catcher in the rye be read in school's?

i need help so i can write a detailed summery about why it should be read in school.

i read that last year and i really didn't see what every one was flipping out about. its a good book. its pretty much about a boy who is struggling/messing up  to get through his teen years. hes pretty messed up in the head, a liar  and hes quick to call other people "phonies."  theres a lot of cussing and there is a hooker in the book but its ok for kids in high school id say

b/c the book is easy to read and not long at all, your can easily finih reading this book in a day.  I personnaly didnt like this book, and i dont think it should be read in school.
