Why should the media STOP showing society skinny unhealthy girls?

I have to do a speech for my english class on why the media should stop. I need some cited sources so any good websites with interviews, statistics, facts that i could use? Any tips on how to introduce the topic? Whats the counterarguement? Thanks =)

Just because one is skinny does not make them unhealthy. The media shows pleasant looking girls that people want to look at, there is no reason to stop that.

Google: Average size of American woman. I believe that it is a 14. The average size of a model is 2-4. Average size of woman in Hollywood is 0-6.

You can introduce this topic by asking the people in your class a question like: How many of you look up to celebrities? Why?

A counterargument is that people in the media should be skinny because of our cultural belief that Thin is beautiful.

Also note that women where not stick thin in Hollywood until the 1970's when the model Twiggy became popular.
