  1. The simple fact that you know how to read and write questions on here is reason enough to appreciate teachers.

  2. Because most of them are there to give us their knowledge. They can be very dedicated and some are not. Some are there just for the paycheck. Just remember 50% of those teachers finished in the top half of their class. The other 50% finished in the bottom half of their class. There are good ones and bad ones alike just like any other profession. Most of the bad ones are weeded out before they get very far, though.

  3. Because they helped us learn what we now know, and are making our lives better that way.  Because they are willing to spend time and effort on someone else's kids.  Because they are often called upon to give up potentially higher salaries and greater growth potential for their teaching.  Because they are human beings who are trying to help others.

Of course there are some bad teachers, but we appreciate artists, even though there are bad ones.  We appreciate doctors, although there are bad ones.  We appreciate athletes, although there are bad ones.  We need to appreciate all of those who do the job well without using the  bad ones as an excuse to ignore them all.

  4. Because they preserve human civilization and provide it to the upcoming generation.

    It's a pretty important job.

  5. Well, ask yourself where you would be without teachers?  Who taught you to read and do math?  Who taught you to write?  Who taught you how to compose your thoughts into papers that made sense?

The most important things you learned from your teachers weren't even in their lesson plans!  I remember that my fifth grade teacher taught me (during early integration) that all people deserved to be treated with kindness and respect.  See, I wasn't learning that in my bigoted house.  My fourth grade teacher taught me that a soft-spoken voice commanded more respect than the yelling I heard at home.  She also taught me that laughter was the most amazing thing we had going for us.  My third grade teacher invited the whole class to her wedding and therefore taught us how important we were to her.  Most of us had never attended such a special event before.

Maybe you've had some bad teachers.  They're definitely out there, but no more than bad lawyers or bad doctors or bad hair dressers.  What other job pays so little for so much required education?  You might say, "But they get summers off..."  Do you realize that teachers don't get paid for the summer months?  Teachers are on 10-month contracts.  Most of them have their 10-month paychecks spread out over 12-months so that they can pay their bills.  The average teacher spends 2-3 hours each night (away from the their own kids) doing school work that they couldn't possibley get finished in their 9-hour workday.

Give teachers a break.  They're not all good.  Cops aren't all good, fireman aren't all good, nurses aren't all good, parents aren't all good.  Hey, guess what, students aren't all good!  So what!  Deal with it and try to stay positive.  Appreciate every single human that you come in contact with that does something nice for you...you'll be happier!

  6. simply because they teach you how to treat and live life and they don't pay too much attention to theire's.

  7. Because they take the time to deal w/ our teenage S***...but some teachers shouldn't be appreciated because of the way that they treat us....

  8. Basically, teachers put up with A LOT of c**p! I have seen how students are treating teachers these days... they talk back, make fun of and are all around rude to them. Teachers work hard and care for their students and their well being...with the exception of a few genuinly mean ones. Bottom line; these people have went through years of school to help YOU learn and grow, not just in school but also as human beings. I know my teachers helped me with more than just school work; they helped me when I was having a hard time at home, or with friends or really anything else. so even if you think they are just there to give you homework and torture you, give them a chance. I GUARENTEE you are WRONG!!!!
