  1. Dr. Smith,

Let me start off by saying we (my family and I) live 100% off of the grid and are completely self-sufficient with a 0% Carbon footprint. I believe this is the first step anyone can make “help the environment”. Once you convert your own life style to a greener more eco friendly route, you can start helping others.

We definitely didn't start global warming, but we definitely do contribute to it now.

Natural gas (or Methane along with other thanes) for example, is completely a natural contributer to global warming and is derived pretty much the same way as oil. ie. Matter (animal, plant etc) decomposes over time resulting in a anaerobic (hope I spelled that right) decay of non-fossil organic material / gas (natural gas or methane).

One problem with global warming is that the concept is so vague in the minds of the people. The critical interpretation is basically how it’s explained in school and the news. However most of the public see global warming connected with the ozone and pollutants which cause harmful greenhouse gasses, etc. therefore investigating and fighting for things like alternative energy (ie. Solar, wind, hydrogen, ethanol, biodiesel, etc)

Greenhouse gases are real and do contribute to global warming. Think of the different gas layers like ozone (o3) that circumference the globe as the clear plastic on a greenhouse. Longer rays of light from the Sun go in and reflect off different thermal masses bouncing back and creating shorter lengths of energy that cannot exist the plastic barrier. These beams then just continue to bounce around inside the green house until they’re finally absorbed completely (some do escape but very few), thereby warming the greenhouse greatly even in cold temperatures.

Basically there are 2 ways that this reaction (or lack of) affects the planet. Global warming and global cooling.

    1. as we add to the gases in the stratosphere, where the ozone layer is (Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, etc), we add to the plastic of the greenhouse, trapping more short wave length energy and heating the earth more.

    2. as we deplete the ozone (with chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs), we allow more long wave length energy, which bounces back out to space without heating any thermal masses on earth, thereby cooling the planet.

It’s pretty easy to see the results..

    Melting ice sheets & glaciers

    Floods & droughts

    Great hurricanes & cyclones

    Seasonal extremes

    Seasonal phenomena’s

    Species extinction

    New & resurgent diseases

There are many ways to stop both global warming and cooling from accruing or at least slow them down until we can discover a way to reverse it, but Stop burning fossil fuels is the biggest.

I currently own 2 converted h2 vehicles which run on 100% hydrogen and 1 EV (electric vehicle), not to mention our home is completely off the grid, using alternative energy (solar, wind, etc)

If you interested I offer several DIY alternative guides to walk you step by step threw Greener living, how to run your car on alternative fuels and being self-sufficient, at agua-luna com or

    Stop Global Warming!!!

  2. It is not natural if humans are contributing to the destruction of the environment with things that we inadvertently created.

  3. global warming ISN"T HAPPENING NATURALLY!

    it's man made

we burn fossil fuesl--->releases greenhouse gases in the air---->makes earth warmer than usual------> more natural disasters happen..including global flooding---->melting glaciers fall into ocean----->disrupts north atlantic current, and other currens that bring warmth to the poles--->ocean currenst shut down---->no more warmth coming to poles---->earth enters another ICE AGE

you can call this cycle natural, but if you note carefully, we  humans are actually the ones triggering this chain of cataclysmic events, that will eventually lead to mankind's partial destruction, so basically, global warming is our fault and it aint natural

  4. It's not the worry that something is happening naturally,a lot of the problems we face in todays society are borne of our own making.

Throughout the years there have always been climatic problems, but never on the scale we are experiencing in modern times, they are more frequent and more powerfully felt than ever before,it could simply be explained that we are experiencing more loss from "natural disasters" because we are more heavily and densely populated, but because,i believe, that we are reaching the pinnacle of our quest for progress, other issues have been pushed aside,we are now realising the effect this is having and will have for the survival of future generations.

I have a family and and i hope that my childrens children etc will look back and think that OUR generation "saved", (or tried to),the planet and gave them a future.

  5. Actually no, it is not irrelevant whether or not it is natural--if CO2 is not the cause, then lowering CO2 emissions will be a worthless action.

  6. No particular reason, but then again viruses happen naturally, perhaps we should all just see who survives, naturally!

  7. It is being accelerated at an unprecedented rate by human activity.

  8. Depends on your goal?  Headaches are natural but most people will care enough to take a pill to resolve it.  If you have a stake in the outcome of a process and you can effect its outcome, you should care about available efforts to change the outcome.  It should be irrelevant that the process is natural or not.

  9. Are you talking about the shark attack, or the people starving?

  10. Our self destruction is natural? ok,...sure.

Dude, we've lived in harmony with nature for thousands of years. What is happening, isn't natural.

  11. Its not happening naturally. Maybe a little bit but humans have the most part in destroying the environment. If humans were alive do u think global warming would be happening right now? you would let millions and millions of animals die at the north pole? look at it this way. if humans werent alive the ozone layer wouldnt be destroyed. animals would live naturally and in there own habitat. There would be many many trees and it would be very green and environmentally safe. So throwing trash on the ground, driving cars, building factories, cutting down trees to make paper and money happen naturally? why dont you look more into the enviroment and global warming then decide what way to lean on. if it happens naturally then it should be saved naturally but unforuntley its not being naturally solved. Thats why people got to take a stand and help. but some people belive its not their job or they dont even care. Why should they do it when they get nothing in return? Thats stupid. if yoiu think that your too caught  up in your own life. if you dont care about the world go live some where else. Were trying to save it when ur destroying it. why should you deserve to live on a planet you dont care about and wont even take your own time to help it when it needs it to most. the world is going to end if you dont act now. the world gives you things in return. If you save the world something will change in ur life. if you help with something small your life will change slightly but if u make a big difference your life will change. its the law of attraction. your negative attidutes affect the world and everyone. if you give up on the world the world will give up on you and you'll be sad taht your life ended and u left the world with the impression that you dont care about the environment i would never help it in any way becuase i dont gain anything. Your self centered and full of yourself. You dont have a heart if you cant take the time to help and respect the world becuase without the world you woulnt be living here right now

  12. Former CBS News correspondent Bernie Goldberg says the liberal mainstream media is largely ignoring the voices of scientists and academics who are skeptical of the notion that global warming is caused by human activity.
