  1. beacuse people dont watch where they are going when they are yabbering on their phone...

I own a cell phone and i dont talk on it while i am driving...

I wish they would ban them while driving

  2. Well first off all they arent banned you just have to have a head set on, and its because there is such a high accident rate caused by people talking on their cell phones while driving. Obviously if you are talking on the phone your full attention isnt on the road, nor is both of your hands. What happens if you need to swerve to avoid a accident and your not paying attention or only have one hand available. There have been several times when someone has d**n near rammed me because they were to busy talking on their phones, half the times they dont even care. Is your conversation more important then peoples lives DONT THINK SO!

EDIT: For your additional comment you made its called voice dialing and in CA it is illegal to be on the cell phone without a headset, you can be on it as long as you are using it with a headset.

  3. Talking on cell phones and driving is as dangerous as drinking and driving!

  4. because you are in control of a 3000 pound piece of steel doing 65 mph...you really should be paying attention to what you're doing....

  5. They should be banned because a lot of drivers are so busy yakking on their phone that they are not paying attention to the road. I almost got rear ended by a lady at a red light one day because she was so busy yakking on her cell phone that she did not notice that the traffic was slowing down. Luckily she was able to swerve over into the other lane to avoid hitting my car.

  6. Because if someone is talking on a phone and driving they are likely to miss something important and get in a wreck or hit some poor pedestrian.

I was almost hit by some stupid lady talking on her phone, I had the right of way and she was turning, but because she was so busy on the phone she didn't see me, luckily I was paying attention and stepped back. she got so close to me with her suburban that I reached out and touched it as she went by, my arm wasn't even fully extended. If for whatever reason I hadn't been paying attention, I would have been hit, possibly even run over. That is why cell phones should be banned while driving.

  7. Cause most people cant drive and do anything else

  8. Because most people listen to what is being said on the other end of the phone and don't concentrate and see the little old lady walking in the crosswalk.

Also a couple seconds of looking down to dial a phone number could make the difference between stopping in time for anything. An accident that just happened in front of you for example.

  9. Because, some people can't walk and chew gum at the same time.  We have to cater to the lowest common denomenator.

  10. Because #1 the average person can't do 2 things at once. And #2 when your talking on your cell phone, your thinking more about what your saying then the road. That will affect your reflexes dramatically. Most of the accidents I see are when a person is talking on a cell...So I think they should ban them..

  11. NHTSA estimates that driver distraction from all sources contributes to 25% of all police-reported traffic crashes."

"The primary responsibility of the driver is to operate a motor vehicle safely," states the NHTSA.

"The task of driving requires full attention and focus. Cell phone use can distract drivers from this task, risking harm to themselves and others. Therefore, the safest course of action is to refrain from using a cell phone while driving," notes the NHTSA.

  12. Because some people can't do two things at once. And they never realize it. So we have to protect the world from them.

  13. Because being on your cell phone is very distracting while you're trying to drive.. A lot of accidents happen from people being on their cell phones..  It happens a lot when you get bad or exciting news on your cell phone when driving..

    Hope I helped!
