Latin contains many roots in English and many other european languages. Its commonly said that if you can master latin you will have no problem learning French, Spanish, etc.

Helps you understand the structure & meaning of language--and, of course, were you to want to be a lawyer or a doctor, would help more directly.

I'm amazed that school no longer teach Latin.  I never learned the language, but my father did.  As a result, he can break down almost any word to figure out its meaning.  This is a great skill to have, especially when you don't have a dictionary handy.

Because in Europe, the most widely spoken language is Spanish and by the year 2020, scholars estimate that half of America shall be Hispanic.
