  1. It's all hype. I have tested 2.4 Ghz., 5.8 Ghz., and 900 Mhz. phones. Similar results. The higher the frequency, the lower the range. Even the new 'Spread Spectrum' digital phones do not do as well as the 900 Mhz. for range. Did you know that most 5.8 Ghz. phones use 2.4 Ghz. for the base.!! Read the fine print. I found NO interference problems with any of them including LAN, wireless internet, or microwave ovens. They all run very low power (100 mw. or less.) TV engineer for 25 years for L.A. station. (The guts of most all of these phones are the same.) People got away from analog 900 phones mostly because others could listen in on scanners to conversations..

  2. Clarity, and if you have a larger house, better range.

  3. lets clear this up, yes the lower the frequency the further the range, however 900 mhz phones transmit with less power then 2.4, 5.8 and DECT phones and have less range. also 900mhz (with out DSS) is insecure, and is a very crowded radio band..

many people will not see a problem with a 2.4ghz phone, but wifi operates in the same range, so 5.8ghz phones provide the ability to remove the posibility of the wifi and phone to cause problems with eachother...

5.8 ghz is a higher frequency then 2.4 ghz phones, tho, so this comes at the expence of range and battery life..

your best option is to go with a 1.9ghz DECT phone, preferably from panasonic
