Is it because God is within you? as in God is in your mind... a figment of your imagination... a planted social meme, not even an original thought of yours, just passed on social conditioning....?

  1. God IS love, and with that love, he created you and me. He loves us so much he sent his son to die for us. I discovered the love of God at an early age and I still experiance it. Maybe I am wrong, Maybe I am right about weather or not God exsists. If I am wrong, then I become nothing and then what do I care? If I am right, then I have a passage into heaven and get to live for all eternity.

  2. I love myself at least twice a day. Are you saying I should love God like that too?

  3. god is imaginary.

  4. self love is pretty important because all love starts with self

  5. I don't know who told you that, but you should in no way love God like you love yourself. The idea itself is simply impossible because God is so much more magnificant than you will ever be....any human that is. As a Christian myself, there is no way I could say that I love God the same as I love myself because to put God and myself at the same level like that would simply be ridiculas.

  6. "Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, 'Which is the first commandment of all?' Jesus answered him, 'The first of all the commandments is: "Hear, O Isreal, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength." This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." There is no other commandment greater than these.' " Mark 12: 28-31

  7. If we think of him as our master then would it not be enough to obey his commands and lead a moral life rather then getting into the loving business? We are only capable of loving in the human terms and that is based on our our own needs and selfish motives in most part. Even parental love is not entirely selfless. So to talk about loving god doesn't make much sense to me. You can be a good human being without falling in love with him and that is more important than this "loving" mania which seems to me as church/temple/mosk propaganda.

  8. You learn to love you're thru the belief in god.

Once you figure out how to love yourself, you realize god never existed.

And so it served its purpose.

  9. Actually you should love God more than yourself. God is not within us, He is not an imaginary plant from our social inheritance. He is God.

He is the Creator of one and all. The universe and all that is in it.

God should be loved first and foremost because He has given you every good and valuable thing you need to live. Even salvation should you accept it.

There lays a great problem, in His salvation a vast majority of men and women eschew such a thing as a saving grace for them. They are full of their own wisdom and go about their own ways disregarding all that God our Creator has given to us. Including our salvation.

  10. I've met people who love God but hate themselves, & they do lots of harm to others around them. I always wondered if these folks were taught,"God is love", by religious instructors who paddled them as they said it.<e.g.>

In one of my favorite films of all time, Larry Cohen's "God Told Me To", The Ex-Wife of the self-loathing but devout protagonist tells him, "You have the faith, but where is the love". Folks of any faith, or none at all, have always thanked me for reccomending it.
