Why should you not start a horse under saddle too young?

A horse to young doesn't have fully developed bones so it could injure or stunt the structure and growth of the horse.

Some will wait until they are 4 yrs before getting on his back

But you can start training him to do other stuff like tieing up, to learn not to pull back ,, loading , and ground work , driving him etc ,,

You should not start a horse to young in the saddle because you can damage their back by making it become sway back. Think about it you are sitting on their spine and that causes it to sway down. Well horses are smart animals but inorder for you to gain more of their trust its good to train them by doing lots of ground execises with them until they are four or five years old that can help them grow stronger in the four years leading up to riding them and makes them better. Horses when they are under four years old are generally dainty little fragile juvenile animals they are still babies until they are four or five so yes because their body is still developing and they are not strong enough yet. and no you cannot really start a horse off at any age because they are not fully developed till the age of four or five so doing lots of ground work helps you bond and make them stronger so you can start them off under the saddle slowly when they are four.Then they wont develop health injuries when you ride them. So start them when they are four its easier for you and them.
