  1. So you dont injure yourself when you start back up again. it keeps you loose and helps so you dont cramp up. It also feels good and relaxing


  2. This keeps your muscles and joints flexible, even though you are not running. Stretching reduces the possiblity of cramps and injuries when you do actually run at practice or meets.

  3. Improve flexibility/range of motion

    get rid of lactic acid still in muscles causing soreness

    speed up recovery

    reduce risk of injury generally in workouts
