  1. you shouldnt

  2. for entirely selfish reasons, if you want: to learn or cultivate a skill that will help you get a job someday, to explore career ideas to see if a particular job is really what you want to study in college, to see firsthand if an organization is *really* having any impact on an issue, to have something interesting to put on your resume, or to meet people. Not everyone who volunteers does it because they have a good heart and want to experience warm fuzzy feelings, and that's fine.

  3. Imagine if no one volunteered for the military - your number might be up in the draft. Be thankful for that if you have other plans than to serve your country.

Feeling good about ones self is a worthwhile effort. Don't you believe in anything? Do you think women's shelters are unnecessary? Food banks? Cleaning up parks? Monitoring wildlife? If it wasn't for volunteers, your taxes would skyrocket since people will demand that things get done. Without volunteers for many activities, the government would have to take your money and give it to those who will do the jobs.

  4. One day when you need help and a volunteer comes to your aid, you will know.

  5. Voluteering comes from the heart. You should volunteer too help others less forunate than yourself. Because you will learn to appreciate what you have and you will also feel a sense of self worth.

Volunteering also helps your community out, for something that otherwise they would have to pay someone an hourly wage for.

  6. To help other people, but you have to want it! No use in volunteering for anything you don't want to do or don't like to do!!!
