Why shouldn't people waste electricity? (not including the payment charges)?

Please answer ASAP! I would like to know the effects. Either it can or can't be beneficial for the society and/or the world.

we get our electricity trough various natural sources like water, coal, thermal power etc. Since most of these resources are getting depleted at a really fast rate..it is important to save as much as possible!

Energy is a limited resource.  Most of us don't live like it is, but it's true!  Are we in (or close to) another energy crisis like we had in the 70's?

California was caught in a bind a few years ago when there wasn't enough power to go around.  Some of that situation was because people simply get in the habit of wasting power, thinking that if they can afford it, no problem.

But there are many costs, and we don't see them all in our bill.
