Why shouldn't we have time to ourselves??

Details: My husband and I just had a baby like 3 or 4 months ago, I forget. Anyway, so we like to go out and party it up on weekends but babysitters are really expensive. So I was thinking. I have a golden retriever and he is really really smart. If I teach him to feed the baby and change a diaper would it be all right to leave the baby home with the dog while we go out?

  1. Just be sure to feed the dog really well first. What could go wrong, YOU MONSTER!

  2. Haha. If you are for real then bring the baby to my house. maybe you'll forget where you left it and I won't need to TTC for a while longer.

I totally understand the want to go out. We get aunts and uncles to watch the child if we go out and return the favor so no one is out money. Also we have beverages at home some weekends to save money. Just wait until baby is down.

also: I am guessing this is a fake once seeing you say like 3 or 4 months ago. New moms are anal about how old baby is.

  3. Well... that sounds iffy, but .... I guess it would be all right if you dialed 9 - 1 before you left, then made sure he could press the other "1" if something happened.

Oh, and alert the 911 people that if they get a call that says "arf" it means send a fire truck, "arf arf" means send an ambulance, "arf arf arf" means send the cops, and "arf, arf, arf, arf" means please call Big Jim's Pizza and get a supreme meat lover's with thick crust.

  4. Romulus and Remus turned out ok and they were raised by dogs

  5. No, wrong, bad.

Take your child with you and leave it in the car, with the window rolled down an inch or so.  Don't park in direct sun.  Put a damp cloth over it's face so that it can gnaw on it if it gets thirsty.  Skip the diaper and just wrap the child in saran wrap so that the car seats don't get messy.

  6. No, the baby should really be taking care of the dog.

    Where are your priorities???

Geez, the dog obviously should come FIRST.

  7. ya sure and while your at it why dont you have the dog shave your husbands face, do the dishes, and mop the floor. <--sarcasm in its finest. Please tell me you were hitting the bottle when you wrote this and just felt like being goofy when you wrote it.

  8. I don't really see a problem with that.  As long as you're sure the dog can do it!  I wish I had a dog that smart I just have to leave my kids locked in the basement so they stay out of trouble.

  9. well they do that in peter pan and the kids had a great time!

  10. That should be fine.  I left my 2-month old with my cats for a few hours while we went to the bar.  No problems.

  11. I sure hope you are joking. If your serious---then you need help.

You can't remember when you gave birth to your baby? Sorry to break it to you---but once you have children--party time is over.

    I smell a troll...

  12. You could hook up one of those rabbit feeders with milk I suppose, good luck with that.

  13. Why bother training the dog - teach your kid to change his own diapers - without the cost of dog food, you can buy a couple more drinks!

    Thanks for the two points!

  14. SURE!

I know from personal experience that this is a GREAT idea!

I have two or three kids myself and they used to love staying home alone on weekends!

We wouldn't stay out too late, just until about eleven or twelve and we'd be home in time to share a nightcap with our oldest who was around six at the time.

We didn't have a dog but we had the "cold glass eye", the good old TV looked after them until our return. We'd put a movie on and hit the bars!

Just remember to leave something out for them to eat. Usually some M&M's and fruit punch works good for an evening snack for them and whatever they don't finish makes a quick early morning breakfast while you're sleeping off any possible hangovers.

    Have fun!
