Question:

Why shouldn't we see the true face of war?

Don't tell me for security reasons. I'm not talking about military secrets. I'm talking about the effects of a war people supported.

It is not the job of journalists to protect the sensitivities of people or to participate in American propaganda. The truth is war is death, mutilation and destruction. Why hide from Americans what they wanted? If you support this war, you should be willing to look at what you support---all of it. Not just a censored, prettified version of it.

  3. I've talk to soldiers and they have told me stories of what happened. The military is our last defense you should respect them.  I am not beyond knowing why they invaded Iraq.   My guess is that Iraq was the only foothold they had in the Middle East.

  4. because ur goverment does not want that.it will ruin its plans for economical and political control over sensitive areas and people of high positions will loose alot of money. its not just the people geting killed victims of your wars u r victims of your wars to. you pay more taxes and your people r geting killed so some smart guys in high places can put more in their pocket. am happy to live in greece and be away from all this . any army not fighting to protect its borders is an agresive army and can only be compared to hitlers germany

  5. Your version of the "true face" of war is one-sided and therefor biased and "censored".  I agree war is awful.  However, in order to show the "true face" of war you have to see ALL of it's affects, positive and negative.  Assuming you are only referring to the war in Iraq, and not the global war on all of terrorism, there are indeed positives that have come along with the negatives.  While I do believe we should have never gone into Iraq in the first place before taking care of business with the Taliban and Al Qaeda in Afghanistan, some of the good things to come about is the fall of a brutal dictator that has been responsible for the deaths of many hundreds of thousands of his own people, not to mention his unprovoked invasions of other small countries.  They didn't call him the Butcher of Baghdad for nothing!  He was a state sponsorer of terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah.  The people of Iraq for the first time in decades have the opportunity to guide their own future as a nation.  I can go on and on but I think you get the gist of what my point is.

  6. World war II was highly photographed, as was Korea and the Vietnam conflict, it was after that the journalists and photographers were given more limited roles, and in fact in this war, they are kept pretty much behind the scene and told what they cannot take pictures of.

I remember sad photos of lines of flag draped caskets during Viet Nam, yet this administration says these photos are in some way disrespectful.

    I don't see how.

We managed to respect our soldiers in WWII with graphic photos every week in Life and in Look, two photomagazines with huge readership.  Looking at how hard it was for our vets didn't reflect poorly on them, if anything knowing how bad it was help us appreciate them more.

  7. Well if your really into that, just walked to down town LA at night! You'll get all the blood and guts you can handle!

  8. Your government would definitely have a problem recruiting ppl to the military, if the public would see that. That`s why, they create heroic glamourised images of them.
