  1. America in particular have a big fear of socialism and communism, also they hate paying taxes no matter how much it might benefit them. So many Americans would think that if they're paying taxes for universal health care, or free housing, or better schools etc, they think its one step closer to socialism which is a taboo in America. Also Americans despise paying taxes.

  2. One real good reason is all the ILLEGALS from other countries will show up for free health care, Like some are doing right now. I pay ENOUGH in taxes that goes to everyone elso to have so I end up doing with out. Don't forget people with children already get free healt care (Child health Plus) at MY EXPENSE, yet I don't get the tax breaks like the parents of these children do.

  3. "would you rather die then to pay a couple of dollars more in taxes?"

    ***********

A "couple of dollars more". You need to get educated. Socialized (yes, SOCIALIZED) medicine isn't FREE. Have any idea what our tax rate would have to go UP to? No, you probably don't.

    Wake up.

  4. Because it has been shown to be just another inefficient, money sucking failure that has the unintended consequence of letting people die while on waiting lists for treatments to the very ailments that killed them? I'm amazed that all the people who can see day after day how inefficient Govt. is, like the Post Office and the DMV, would want them responsible for what could eventually be a life or death decision.

Prerfectly baked, you do realize that the UK created their national Health system AFTER Churchhill was no longer the PM? So his statement means nothing in regards to Govt. Run health care.

  5. well that's america for ya, it sucks

  7. The UK does not have "free" health care, if you work, you get money automatically taken from your pay check "NHS contributions".  I'm a UK citizen that is living and working in the US.  In the UK I was diagnosed as diabetic, and then had further tests, the NHS lost my results and did not give me proper care for almost 9 months.

My mother had a hysterectomy and because the NHS was understaffed due to cut backs, after the operation they woke her up and made her walk from one bed to the other.

American health care is good but very very spendy.  If the US did ever move to socialized medicide it would need to be regulated more better then the UK.

  8. -How many of those 50 mill Americans don't have a job? If you don't have a job, why should you get free health insurance?

-You can't die *simply* because you're uninsured. Many people die from things like heart problems that go undiagnosed because they don't have insurance, but many people like that are eating unhealthily and could probably figure out that they have some sort of problem. You don't always need a doctor to tell you that.

-It wasn't your $100 million, why do you care?

-Hey, at least the US is not at the bottom of the list! 37th out of all the countries in the entire world isn't really that awful.

-CEOs don't "win" money. That doesn't make sense.

-Tax money's gotta go somewhere. If you don't like where it's going, use your vote to vote for people who will change it.

-Oh whoopee, a whole 3 years. That's not exactly a lot.

-You can get a 90-day supply of prescription medication in the US for $4.

-Maybe that's because Detroit is riddled with gang violence and parents who use drugs instead of taking care of their children. You can't blame that back to the health industry.

-And in Cuba they also live under an oppressive dictator... if that sounds good to you, move there!

If you hate the American health care system so much, get out of the country.

  9. We're too stubborn to adopt another country's invention of a healthcare system is all.

Churchill said that our system of government "isn't perfect, but it's the best in the world."

I'm sure he wasn't considering our healthcare system with that statement.

If you take a look at other countries, besides former British colonies, most of them have a parliament, military, and police force similar to ours, which makes us too stubborn to bring in any outside systems.
