Question:

Why sift potting soil?

by  |  earlier

1. In general, why is it important to get the larger chunks of wood and stuff out of potting soil?

2. Is soil specifically called "potting soil" pretty much ok in this regard?

3. In my case, this is about potting cactuses. I bought soil specifically called "potting soil", and I am mixing it with perlite and sand (based on advice from cactus gardeners). Do I need to sift it?

Thanks.

Thanks.
