I have a Aiwa CDC-X217 cd player, a Brutus BX10D2 sub with max of 1200 watts and a pioneer GM5200T 760 watt amp. My friend let me get his alpine MRP-M450 1000 watt amp. I hooked up the alpine amp to my car and the light on the amp came on green so i thought everything was fine and it was working. I hooked my sub into the amp and the sub wouldn't play no sound came out of it i then turned on my car and smoke started to come out my cd player. i took out the cd player from the dashed and looked inside and everything was fine. and the cd player came back on and was working like normal. I unhooked the alpine amp from the car and put my pioneer in and started my car because i was about to head home and my car wouldn't start. My friend had to give me a jump start. When i got the jump start everything was working like normal along with my subwoofer. I want to know if its possible that the amp was to strong or watever for my cd player and also if it could have cause for my car battery to die?

  1. sounds like you started too (you may have caught it in time) fry the radio

the amp has nothing at all to do with your radio, and if you played the sounds with the car off you would have drained the battery because the alternator was not spinning to charge keep the battery charged

if you did not play your sounds with the car off and you still needed a jump more than likely you have a short in your electrical system somewhere

  2. along with the previous answer yes you were starting to burn out the radio suprisingly you are lucky that it still works. I would be careful though it is bound to happen. I would check the way your wiring is done could just be a loose wire.
