Question:

Why so many capped oil wells?

I worked in the oil fields in Oklahoma, in 1981, and while there observed litterally hundreds of capped oil wells, that had been drilled in the 1930's, and some as far back as the 1920's.

My question is: Why don't they open them up again, and see if there is any oil in them?

  1. One of the reasons is that the government and oil companies work together, and want you to think there is a shortage. In reality when negotiations go bad in the other countries, or they try to hold us off oil, run out, etc... we can just open our hundreds when we need them and last for awhile. They do this all over, I personally have seen MANY here in Texas be drilled for a week or so, then capped. There is still much oil in there, but they don't want others to know that.
