Men's cosmetics are popular, they get their hair dyed and streaked, they get facelifts.  But if you want me to call you beautiful, then so be it.

It's a great question, it's probably for the same reason that many girls are of the opinion that a male gynecologist is somehow incapable of being familiar with female anatomy/ physiology/ biochemisty or pharmacology and are moreover driven by some sort of pathologic sexual interest in women who happen to be their patients (which is truly absurd).  Similarly, some girls regard that only girls who may use beauty-enhancing products could understand the needs a girl in this regard.  In reality there are a lot of experts who are employed by high-end fashion and cosmetic companies who devote their careers to understanding and marketing products with the express interest of the target consumer in mind.

Because girls grow up with dolls, doll houses, rings, jewelry, lipstick, and all other precious, pretty things being thrown at them.

Men get soldiers, tanks, guns, fake blood, snakes, and all other dirty, dark things thrown at them.  

Women get taught to get a band-aid and cover with make-up and boys get taught to suck it up and show those scars.

There is your answer.  Society does this.

Well, my grandson says that boys are not supposed to be called beautiful, lol.  But listen, I do not really think women are the representative of beauty.  Beauty is flowers in a field, it's looking out and seeing the mountains appear in view as you drive toward them, it's so many things that we see every day and we do not realize how beautiful they are because we have a narrow mind about beauty.

To a mom, her son is beautiful, always, even if he is gone forever.  Please know this is true from my heart.

Because they don't? I've never even heard of that, honestly. Men are welcomed and looked up upon in the beauty/style field just as much as women. Whatever dude.
