Question:

Why so many tears over Guantanamo Bay?

I'm a Democrat and a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Nonetheless, I just can't empathize with the whining over the treatment of prisoners at Gitmo. Mahvish Khan recently wrote a book on Gitmo concluding that it is the modern equivalent of the Holocaust. Who is she kidding?

The Holocaust's victims were 6 million innocents. The handful of prisoners at Gitmo are accused terrorists. Gitmo has no gas chambers; prisoners aren't forced into slave labor; they aren't starved or shot; they don't have ghastly medical experiments performed on them. Moreover, their trials are open to members of the press. I just don't get it. Can someone from the left please enlighten me on why I or anyone else should shed a tear or lose a moment's sleep over Gitmo?

  1. I'm on the same page as you. Personally, I don't understand why so many people make such a huge issue out of the situation at Gitmo. However, I suppose it has something to do with fear of being linked to torture and not providing swift judgement.

  2. First of all, just because there was a holocaust doesn't mean we should do the same things. Gitmo is holding people who don't even know what they've been charged with. There have been proven instances of torture and humiliation. Most of us don't understand why our government isn't allowing them to be tried. At least that way we might be able to determine who the guilty ones are and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.

  3. I don't know what it is about libs but they hate our soldiers who fight for our country, are okay with live born babies being killed as a form of abortion, they don't stand up for any worthwhile people or causes but they do take a stand for terrorists and illegal immigrants. There's a case going on in Texas where an illegal who beat raped and killed two young teenage girls is being put to death. The libs want him to not be put to death and have actually said that he deserves more rights than a citizen of the US. Why is it they stand up for the scum of the earth but not goo dpeople.

  4. I know of no one who cares. As for comparing it to the Holocaust, she obviously does not know want she is really writing about.
