Why some people say that Belize is dangerous and others say the contrary?

Please be concise and tell me if I'll be safe or not if I go there for vacations.

I was there a couple of years ago and felt perfectly safe in the San Pedro area on Ambergris Cay.   Belize City (like most cities) is a little rough so you might want to be careful - I would not go out at night by myself there.
