Why some phone numbuers have a word for example 1300Kitchen

or 19 phone numbers i have heard of 13 numbers but 19 free or not

  1. The words represent the numbers on the phone's keypad.  For example, if wanted to call Stanly Steemer (carpet cleaner) the number is easier to remember when stated 1-800-steemer instead of 1-800 what ever the actual numbers are.


  2. It is easier to remember the number as you remember just the word instead. 1300 are 25c, 1800 numbers are free and 190 numbers are usually at a very high rate eg $5 per minute.

  3. the word is the letter on the key pad of the phone. number 2 is ABC, number 3 is DEF etc so kitchen would be 1-800-5482436

  4. Easier to remember. Just look @ the pads on your mobile and dial according to the word you see after the numbers as in 1800-SUICIDE would be 1800-7842433.

    Edit: Here in Singapore 1800 numbers are toll-free, while 1900 numbers are not.
