  1. Maybe to figure out how to find water.  Maybe academics are good.  Maybe got a scholarship.  Maybe wants new experience.

  2. Australia may have serious droughts but they also have several major cities which are well kept, and a wonderful culture. For many years I had spoken with people whom have gone to Australia and of those, many who moved down there permanently.

Having now gone down there myself, I understand why, and I think it's compelling. So they don't have water, they are perfectly willing to build desalinization plants, and conserve in ways US citizens can't even think of, which underscores the 3rd thing I found which is a positively amazing life lesson.

We have these entirely destructive conversations about red/blue , conservative/liberal, which serve no purpose, except the division of our people for political purposes. They don't really exist down there, there are politicians who try to put that on people, but they ignore the divisions placed upon them.

What happens is that people work together, for the common good, I had NEVER seen this in the US, it was amazing. Random people doing things to help each other , all over the place. Amazing, it was like they were being anonymously friendly towards one another. It was like walking through one of those Liberty Mutual commercials, only more so.

Maybe the US was like that once upon a time, maybe in parts it still is like that, but now everyone is out for themselves, and if it's something that isn't pleasant to do, it must be someone else's job. Here we watch as people have problems and watch in stupefaction rather than help or do something about that.
