  1. responsible hunting helps ensure a healthy animal population. would you rather see seals, deer, bear, etc die from starvation, or sustain themselves by eating humans? or would you rather help nature maintain its delicate balance of predator and prey? as little as 10,000 years ago the sabre toothed tiger, and the dire wolf flourished. today they are gone. why? they could not adapt to life without their regular prey, that they themselves hunted to extinction. the grey wolf, a smaller cousin to the dire wolf did survive because it did adapt to finding other prey, and it was given a big boost when the sabre toothed tiger, and the dire wolf died off as well. seals are no different. animals dont think, they react. they act on instinct. they dont say, hey guys, the salmon population is dieing here, lets eat other fish instead until the salmon make a come back. only humans make this leap of thought. and since we do make this leap, we have to help nature if we want to see more seals in the future.

  2. When the baby seals grow up, they steal the fish stocks.

  3. Because there aren't enough top predators to eat them anymore.  So we have to control the populations so they don't starve to death.
