  1. The sound from clapping is made because your hands are displacing air and causing vibrations. Under water you are only displacing water and the vibrations you cause are absorbed by the water around your hand.

  2. because there is no air under water.. and a sound is produced while clapping only when air is present in that atmosphere...

  3. There will be some sound. However, the water will absorb the sound waves and muffle them.

Our ears are designed to pick up sound through air. The air vibrates our eardrums and lets us hear. Water will vibrate in a different manner and absorb much of the energy of the wave, meaning the sound will be deadened before it can reach our ears.

  4. Because of lack of air in the water.

  5. The sound of clap is transmitted through the vibration of air particles. Underwater no air.

  6. The sound is being absorbed by the water that's why your clap wouldn't be heard. Water isn't the best sound conductor.
