Why split air conditioner out door unit fan turn very slowly?

  1. Does it turn very slowly all the time?  or did you just observe it turning slowly, once?

    If you just saw it moving slowly one time, for a short time, then it is simply off and the wind outside was pushing the idle blades (slowly).  When the compressor kicks on and the heat in the outside radiator is sufficiently high -- that's the only time that fan needs to be running (fast).

  2. your fan motor is probably seized, but then again normally when it's seized there is a sensor to stop it from damaging the machine so it shuts down completely.  go to your thermostat, turn everything off and call the company who installed it. call soon, because distributors close on the weekend.
