Rearrange the kids so they are sitting next to other students that you know they would never say 2 words to.

i need more information! what grade? girls or boys? but i know about girls and they speak because it is incredible fun! do u remember when u were at school? is this what u did? i used 2 talk every free minute because all the girls must share the gossip on the spot! but however i did still finish my work... unlike some people i know! i can't really give u advice on how 2 avoid it except that maybe u should try 2 make explanations and things short ( and not incredibly boring) or just funny as well as educational

You use the word "Professor" which means a person teaching in a College or University. In that case, students who are rude enough to talk while their professor is lecturing....they are asked to leave the room. That was the one common rule I had in all my University classes. Professors won't put up with that, and with higher learning being so expensive, no one else should have to put up with rude people while they are trying to learn.
