  1. Because the earth turns.  And it grows better plants.

  2. The sun does not rise.

It appears to rise because of your relative position on the earths surface as the earth rotates on its axis.

  3. Please let us know who & where from or we are talking to space. e.g. (MY)

    OLD/M from S'pore  Now 2258 on 10/07/08(Thurs)

Seeing it starts off from East in early morning and setting in the West, late evening because the Earth is moving in that direction.   Now why not ask the North & South Pole has 6 mths Day & 6 mths Night.   Because the Earth Axis is slanting and not  straight.  When North Pole is Day, South Pole is Night ----not facing the SUN.

  4. the "sun rise" and "sun set" are caused by the rotation of the Earth ...  the Sun is closer or further during different times of the year due to the Earth's orbit around the Sun which is eliptical, not a perfect circle, so as the Earth moves around the Sun it's distance from it changes ...

  5. Sun not raising. Earth turning.
