So I just started on here the other day, and I am a grooming salon manager at Petco. I got my start from when I was born it seems. My grandparents owned a pet shop that had a grooming department inside it and the groomer was the only one that could hold me and I wouldn't scream lol. I worked with the runner of grooming (bathing and brushing and such) since I was 8. I have always thought more of animals than humans, h**l, they are more honest and loyal!
I left working there to work professionally after training to groom, and have done well. Never to this point have I had to send a dog to the vet or had one sent because of something I didn't know of. No matter the pet that comes in to my salon, I love it instantly and want to make it beautiful.
This feeling has not changed in the entire 16 ears since I lft my grandparents shop. I give every animal my full attention and tons of love, I want nothing more than my clients (those being the pets, not owners necessarily) to be as happy as possible and enjoy the process, this is why I do no more than 7 dogs a day.
I do believe and suppor tthe fact that petco as a whole thinks of money more than anything. And yes, I understand as a cunsumer that it looks bad and I would rather shop somewhere else. But to say something such as, never go to petco..they don't care, is wrong. Does everyone really think that EVERY groomer at petco feels that money is more imoprtant than pet's health? I mean, the only reason that I am working there is because they guaranteed an hourly rate (which ma and pop shops don't) even when there was no business, and there is a higher percentage being paid to the groomers, thus more money being made. And I am a single mother, and I really need the money and I am still doing what I love to do
