Why the 24 mph speed limit in Nashville, TN?

Having just moved here, I've seen many interesting things... including several 24 mph speed limit signs around the Grand Ole Opry area. Can anyone explain this to me? I've googled it and can't seem to find any info on this odd law. Someone end my curiosity!!

  1. It sticks in your mind better than 25 mph, and seems to help in driver compliance. I've seen some speed limit signs with fractions in them.


  2. probably so you dont kill tourist pedestrians...

  3. it probly is the max safe speed for a bus or some other vehicle
