  1. Really?

I am in Beijing now and have watched several games during the past week. I did not see the booing against Japanese team.

  2. Because they're brainwashed nationalists with big egos and little humanity.

They boo Japan even if China isn't playing!

  3. Everyone should boo the Japanese! The Japanese act like they are the victims of WW2(2 atomic bombings)! They are just great actors performing on the wrong stage!

  4. hi,

    are you sure?

i don't agree with you .The Chinese and The Japanese are friendly peoples...

  5. the japanese invaded china before. they committed many atrocities, the most relevant of all the rape of nanking, when the japanese went on a rampage in the city of nanking, killing many people and raping many other women. the people were also forced to do unnatural acts which are too inappropritate to be mentioned here. it has been years ever since, but the chinese are still unable to forgive the japanese, furthermore with the 'heck-care' attitude of the former japanese president, president koizumi. to date, neither china nor korea nor the other invaded countries have been given formal apologies.

the japanese continue to try and cover up their previous acts of malice and make it unknown to the younger generation of japanese. this is considered unacceptable because unlike germany, they have not made formal apologies and is still insisting that the rape of nanking and other atrocities committed never happened and were part of attempts to discredit the japanese.

my nationality is singaporean, my race is chinese-korean. my grandparents all suffered at the hands of the japanese then,as they were in singapore at that time .they forbid me to mention anything japanese-related in front of them. my paternal grandfather was tortued into insanity by the japanese soldiers for information.

  6. B/c of outside the Olympics there is a lot of history and conflict between the two.

  7. Chinese, The Most Envied Race/Civilization

huge land, a pure race, culturely, great economy, great technology, strong military and nukes, most thoughtful leaders, independent political system, physically superior(olympics)

the huge land and pure race combination is enough. mutts (americans), and losers from failed races/civilizations(small countries) envy the pure and mighty Chinese race

  8. >I think you're making up something, jerk. I don't know of any booing from Chinese.

    >I am in Beijing now and have watched several games during the past week. I did not see the booing against Japanese team

because you guys cant watch all the  games in your county

    japan-china volleyball

    japan-venezuela

    japan-other countries

    football,,,,,,,,,a lot of other games!

they are really loud and happy when japan loses or misses the medal!

its against the manner and hospitality

and yes,as talonshow says they  r booing even when china is not playing!

    they are absolutely  brainwashed communists

most people who posted their opinions here are too innocent

you need to know what kind of country china is

you have to think about why china is  so huge now?

a lot of countries need to independent from china

china is thinking about nothing else but hate japan

  9. Yes, it was quite audible in the Men's volleyball between China and Japan a few days ago.  Very noticeable in the 5th set, but almost absent in the first two, which were both won by China.  I'm hearing it now (live) in the Venezuela/Japan men's volleyball match...booing is very noticeable when a Japanese person is serving.  And it isn't "jia you"...I can tell the difference...

Despite the history, a bit unfortunate since this is the Olympics...especially given that Chinese leaders have repeatedly said that politics should not interfere with the Olympics.  And the anniversary of the end of the war has come and passed, and no one significant in the Japanese leadership visited the controversial shrine.

That said, we hope that it is an isolated incident.  As others have said, such booing is not occurring in all events, so it might just be the bad apples that got volleyball tickets and have very loud voices.  The Chinese leadership appears to have done some things about it, including encouraging the audience on how/when to cheer (see link).

But, there is definite booing, so you aren't dreaming.  We hope it is isolated, since if two countries can't move forward through the Olympics, then why are governments spending so much money on it??

Edit:  If anyone still doubts us, there is a women's game on Sunday, August 17th between the two countries, I think. Let's hope we only hear cheering for this game...

  10. sometimes it is hard to set aside history and politics when it comes to sports, I was in a mall in Shanghai watching the men's individual gymnastics event and they crowed cheered when the Japanese guy stumbled during his routine, it was a little sad to hear them cheer, but, I understand to a point

If the Summer Games were in the US and the Iraq team came in, I guarantee 100% the crowd would cheer till the stadium fell down!

  11. In which event? I guess it's not that they do it in all events.

  12. History lesson:

    -1930s-1940s attrocities

    -late 1890s conflicts

    -16th century wars

  13. Do you know anything about their collective history?  They aren't very fond of one another.

The olympics are probably one of the only venues the citizens of both countries have to voice their dislike for one another.  This is common in sporting events.  In soccer, for example, fans from opposing countries sometimes brawl in the stands.  And the fights can be especially bad in matches where countries have historical political differences.

  14. I have watched Japan during many of their events, and I only saw China booing Japan once. This was when the Japanese men's volleyball team and the Chinese men's volleyball team were very close in their final game set. I think they were just getting excited for their Chinese men to win. I'm sure some people were mean-spirited, and certainly booing while the Japanese serve is not a nice gesture, but this was the only time I saw the Japanese being booed.

In gymnastics, I think the audience cheered for them. I think you can't help cheering for any gymnast who performs well.

Where did you hear them booing?

**edit: I was watching men's table tennis today and they was a point where they were definitely cheering for Germany and not Japan, but later they were alternating between "deguo" and "riben" (jia you). Most of the time they were cheering for any exciting point, not really Germany or Japan. You can argue there was a bit of anti-Japanese (or pro-German), but I think they were relatively respectful of both teams.

Anytime a different nation faces China in finals and semifinals, you will notice much less aplause for the other nation. I have not seen many other such events where China is in a decisive battle against a nation aside from Japan (or maybe I didn't pay attention), but I think that the patriotism could lead them to boo any opposing team under those circumstances. I'm slightly curious to view some other China vs (other) decisive matches now just to see, but many Chinese do not hate the Japanese, which is important to remember. There are truly a variety of opinions.

  15. Because Japan has been playing by the rules. China has cheated like 40 times now and judges have been biased in their favor multiple times. Maybe if the IOC cared about fair play and not money this wouldn't be the case.

  16. >I never heard of any booing against Japanese this entire Olympics, and I've been watching every day. What's your source?

    From what I've seen~

Men's Volleyball  Venezuela  vs Japan(I'm watching this game right now)

Football  Nigeria vs Japan,Netherlands vs Japan

  17. What Olympics did you watch?.....Is it Mars Olympics?

  18. Because there some resentment or disagreement between the Chinese and the Japanese, perhaps the fact that the Japanese kicked China's *** in WWII and had control of the China mainland, until the United States defeated Japan. Also because of the Japanese pirates invading China earlier before the Great Wall was built. Also Japan has better girls in my opinion..I just like Japanese girls way too much. Besides they're just jealous..Japan is kind and outgoing while China is Communist and fogged up with pollution (Beijing).

  19. Because China and Japan has a long history of conflict as Japan is always bullying China. So now its their revenge time, so they make full use of it.

  20. Why are Amercians being the most mean spirited of all over the olympic games?  I dont know how you even dare to write this question given the volume of pure c**p and lies that has been plastered all over Yahoo Answers site about China and posted by Americans.

Japan - Nanjing massacre - do some research.

What has China done to the US? Besides welcome them into their country and throw a big party for them along with other countries who are also guests?

If they are beating the US at some games I suggest the US try harder and/or get better athletes and learn to lose gracefully and behave themselves better when it comes to sporting events. The reaction of the Americans to losing is nothing short of disgraceful, a severe loss of face for the US, not just with China but with every country in the world.

I havent heard any booing on the tv coverage, but what would the US do if Iraq athletes came to an olympics today that was in the US?  Welcome them with open arms? AND cheer for them?

  21. The booing mentality are most probably due to the unforgetable history of atrocities by the Japanese Imperial soldiers during the second world war.

  22. You have much to learn about people, young Jedi.

  23. I never heard of any booing against Japanese this entire Olympics, and I've been watching every day. What's your source?

  24. I think you're making up something, jerk. I don't know of any booing from Chinese.
