  1. WisdomTormented is correct I believe :-

To have continued contribution over a number of years to peace and/or political change - as recognised by the media.

To ask for the criteria implies you may wish to strive for a Noble Peace prize. Therefore WisdomTormented suggestions to become a media stooge is a very likely criteria. It takes a life time of work (and media coverage!!) to get the "recognition" that "qualifies" candidate for Nobel peace prize.

  2. A primary essential requirement to be considered a nominee is bowing and allegiance to the power and might of the media. Nobel prize nominees are the Media’s main stooge. Once bowed at the altar of Media men are capable or permitted little but to toe the liner.

Media corroborators cannot realistically be considered heroes, revolutioneries or poineers, although hype and presentation will dictate otherwise.

  3. In the first stage, about three thousand mailed ballots are sent out to individuals around the world.  Major politicians, professors, religious leaders, and past winners are often chosen to receive these ballots.  Each of them may nominate anyone they wish with their ballot... and some have sometimes taken the opportunity to make frivolous recommendations.

All those nominations are gathered and given to the Nobel Committee which consists of five people elected to those positions by the Norwegian Parliament.  These people are also usually former members of parliament, at least.  This committee filters through all the nominations, discussing their achievements at length.

According to Nobel's will, the standard for choosing the winner of the peace prize is, "the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies, and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses."

It is supposed to be a thorough and rigorous process, which is not to say that there have not been any glaring omissions (like Ghandi) or controversial elections (like Yassar Arafat).  There are some who find the Dalai Lama completely unworthy of it as well, I'm sure.

  4. Political maneuvering. He is a very skilled salesman.

  5. Try first to discover how and why the Nobel Peace Prize was established.  You may have a big surprise.
