Why the Prime Minister of Singapore is so heartless?

Question

He can't even spare the life of a young Australian transporting drugs trying to pay off his debt.

Sure transporting drugs is a bad crime, but it isn't worth killing someone for it. Why didn't the Prime Minister Hsien of Singapore spare his life and continued with the execution?

He is not heartless, he did not want to set a precedent & more people will be transporting illegal drugs in/out of Singapore.

I wish we had that Singapore Prime Minister in the U.S. How nice it would be to execute drug dealers. Think about all the people that have died with those illegal drugs and how much it costs society. Yes, the death penalty is a great idea! This guy could have gotten a job like anyone else instead of drug dealing.
