  1. I get nothing free. I pay rent, pay for my car, pay taxes, my pay is slightly more than Saudis but most of the Saudis barely work anyways. I work 35 hours a week with 1 hour lunch break,  while Saudis work about 2 hours a day with numorous cigarette breaks and surfing the internet for p**n.

  2. Really, I don't think that 15K a month is that much to pay a university professor.  That's about $4000 per month or $48K per year.  Most professors with experience make a lot more than that in the US.  In my opinion, it's not really the 5 star deal you think it is.

I also agree that when it comes to University professors you can't just base the pay on the fact that they have a phd then experience.  It depends on what his specialty is and where he studied.

I also agree that you have to give some incentives to ppl so they will come to Saudi Arabia.  Saudis can learn a lot from foreigners.  The education will be better if you have people from all over the world coming together.

  3. you can't generalize that because a non Saudi Arab never take a salary more than a Saudi. the Saudi government consider the nationality is the standard.

  4. Ironically, that is very true

Even here in Dubai, Europeans salaries especially British are extremely high

Because simply locals say that they look good and they are smarter!!

But they are false, all races have smart people. I don’t think anyone should take more than the other because of his skin color or passport.

Hope one day they will wake up and realize that all humans are equal

  5. because they are generous like Hatim Al Ta2i

  6. ......First of all Saudi govt. prioritizes its local people when it comes to salary bracket. They see to it that the Saudis were well provided. Expats in return are paid less to the Saudi. Its a fact. If you say that sometimes expats have higher salaries to the saudis, its because of the years of experience and the knowledge or expertise of the job. Expats are the one teaching the Saudis to learn but when they learn they dispatch their mentor afterwards. Saudization is the main objective of the saudi govt. today that all companies in the kingdom should have at least 30% saudis employed. So, the companies doesnt have a choice but to employ saudis even they are not qualified to the position. A saudi employed as a secretary doesnt even know how to use computer and how to make formal letters. Work efficiency is less and company profit became less also. The fact is, 70% that belongs to the work force and hardworking are expats. Thats a fact, so dont complain about more salaries given to expats they deserve it anyways.......

  7. its not true

americans r treated differently but if u see the general trend of other nationals and saudis saudia r much heavy paid for doing nothing.

  8. paying the foreigner more than the saudi is the incentive to keep him working in the country. But also each foreign nationality has its own salary scale. An american is paid more than is paid more than a pakistani. for example.

But note that this rule is also true for companies in the private sector and not only in government. I think this is also true for a lot of countries that require qualified personel and lack people with higher degrees of qualification.

If you look on the other side, foreign workers without diplomas are paid less than saudis for the same job that doesnt require a high level of studies or qualifications.

  9. it is true that the professors in universities get peanuts salaries compared to what they do and their importance

it is true that many arab countries have this perception that a foriegner will do a better job than a saudi. I disagree. Many saudis do better jobs or equal.

But, it is true, that you must bring forigners, in any country. You need other experiences to grow more.

It is true also that in private companies, foreigners get much much higher salaries. 25, 30 and 40 thousands riyals. But, this is normal. If you compare it to their currency and if you cut the tax, then it makes sense.

Let's say, I have a good skill, and I can teach Arabic in a University in Oganda. How much salary I would go for?

I would think totally in Saudi Riyals (may be 15, or 20 at least).

If I was offered 2500 riyals (which might be great salary there) I would not even look at the contract.

  10. i don't agree. i see soooooo many rich saudis with nice houses and cars, i think most of the saudis r rich.

  11. Universities dont go by "experience" and Phds only theres many other factors. Maybe he graduated from Harvard or something? I dunno

It does happen though especially if the job is related to teaching English. And in some private companies as well, its possible that its related to the cost of living in the persons country.

I dont agree with it, but I remember one of the hospitals having salary charts, with six categories based on nationalities. It was clear that the more expensive countries' citizens were offered more than those from less expensive countries.

Citizens were in category 3. This is at al Takhassusi hospital and ive seen the charts myself.

I do see the logic in it but I dont agree with such an approach, because the amount of money saved wouldnt be worth the sense of unequality left with the workers even if each was happy with his salary and how much it can by in his or her country.

The government has nothing to do with it really. Government has many agencies and many branches that have different philosophies and administrations and so on... You cant just say goverment is this or that... those who say so, talk like that due to the lack of understanding of duties and responsibilities of governments, and even administrations, or branches of the government, like judical or legislative or even government companies.

They just like to whin and complain and do nothing. If people were more possitive about things instead of waiting for Majlis al Shoora or the ministry of health to do something?

Did he write about it in the newspaper? Probably not. Did he send a letter to the universities president? I think not. Chances are that he doesnt have the right to complain in the first place and if he does he does have the right to, he does nothing about it except to tell his students about it... oh ... and the students who actually are PAID around 300$ a month just for being good boys and going to school!

All that stuff  can be written about in Al Watan newspaper... so what answers can be expected in an English speaking board full of non Saudi people asking about Saudi?

Next question should be why doesnt the government give away houses for free, wait, they do give 300,000 thousand riyals for housing but you have to wait for years for your turn, so how about complain about that and ask to be equal to the UAE government that gives 2 million and not 300k and make it quick?

    Wait... people already did :P

Or maybe complain about the FREE pieces of land they give out not being worth a million instead of one hundred thousand?

Sorry but you caught me in a very bad mood :P
