  1. Contrast to the gothic black. Don't you have spell-check on your system?

  2. In his movies bright colors are good and happy

Maybe he has the good people have bright hair. For symbolic reasons and whatnot

  3. Cause they stand out! Tim Burton is a genius director and it will be for benefit of the film! I love the guy = ]

  4. I'm going to go with the fact that movies in which there were NOT artificial looking blonds far outweigh the once that do.  2 Batman movies, Big Fish, Sweeney Todd, Beetlejuice, Pee-Wee, Planet of the Apes, Ed Wood (black and white, so a terrible example)

    I'm going with coincidence.

  5. tim burton was to me always a weird director he might have done it to stand out, i mean look at the houses in edward scissor hands they were bright colors also sorry i can't really explain it

  6. Maybe to represent that they're innocent characters. I'm not saying that people who don't have blonde hair are rebels (I'm a brunette), but stereotypically, the blonde girl is the innocent one.

But some of his films are already well known stories and he couldn't change the colour of their hair. Sweeney Todd for example, Johanna had to have blonde, or yellow, hair because it's based on a broadway show and her yellow hair in mentioned often, especially in the song 'Johanna', which has the line 'buried sweetly in your yellow hair'. Tim couldn't change the line to 'buried sweetly in your bl-ack hair'.

And supposedly, in his upcoming version of Alice in Wonderland, the character of Alice will have blonde hair.

  7. How 'bout this perspective...?

Blonde hair for the contrast of a dark movie?  Maybe he didn't want everything to look too drab with all those blonde characters having black hair instead.

I'm sure he could have gotten away with Winona having black hair in that movie because of all the colors in the majority of the movie.

Also, it seems to be a little known fact that producers and execs of movies have say in things about the movie.  Perhaps maybe in some of those films Burton wanted the blond to be a dark hair color and someone made him change it.  It's a possibility.
