  1. if you are right handed, you wear a glove on your left hand because you grip the club more with that hand than your other hand. you don't have to wear a glove but it helps with blisters if you play or practice a lot. most poor golfers grip the club way to hard. you are not chopping wood so you don't have to grip it that hard. you just want to grip it hard enough so that the club won't spin in your hand. if you grip it harder than that, you won't be able to do the things you need in your swing to learn to hit the ball correctly

  2. Go play golf without one a few days in a row... you'll see why

  3. A golf glove is worn for 2 reasons...the first is it makes for a sure-handed grip...slippage can ruin the best of golf swings...the second is that it provides protection for the hands....trust me, ifyou are somewhat of a beginner, and your play 18 holes at a decent pace, that club grip WILL rub your hands raw...and potentially give you a good size blister....now, if your are right handed, you need a glove for your left hand, if you are left handed you need a glove for your right hand...you only wear one glove because most of the friction from the grip is only on your leading hand.....k?

  4. Most of all, it is to absorb the moisture from your hand.  That way the club doesn't slide while swinging or slide right out of your hand in general.  You only wear one glove because your other hand is basically cupped over your other hand when holding the club.  When looking for a glove, you just want to make sure it fits snugly, but without being too tight.  In my opinion, one glove is just as good as the other.  Most popular name brand golf gloves go for 10-20 dollars and I don't think there's too much of a difference between them.

  5. keep calices off your hand along with other answers mentioned.

I'd stay away from cheap ones, as my $5 acuity glove has gotten all crunchy and hard after just a few rounds, and takes a bit of sweat to loosen it up.

  6. The glove is worn the hand that you place on top of the club, which is also the arm that you need to keep straight throughout the swing.  It helps to keep you from losing the grip that you placed on the club at address and through impact.  You might get blisters if you didn't wear a glove after hitting many balls.  Leather is the only material that I gloves are made of.  If you have shorter fingers you might want try a cadet size glove.  Callaway, Intech, Nike, Etonic, Mizuno are some popular gloves and just about every club company makes gloves.
