Rayo Vallecano faithful are disenchanted with their president, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 Martin Presa, even though things are going spectacularly well for the team on the pitch.
It was not long before the chants started in Rayo Vallecano’s home game with Levante on Thursday night as the fans called for head of the president.
The fans are fed up with the fact that their team plays so many games on Mondays and Thursdays.
They were carrying banners depicting the president as a puppet who does everything for his master. They are basically referring to the TV rights owners who usually determine the playing time schedule for teams in the Primera Division.
The chants of course did not continue all the time during the game. There were moments of excitement and relieve after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nacho-c27212 and Piti scored their wonder goals.
There is no doubt that the Rayo faithful are angry with their president for the fact that they play not on the weekends.
Rayo Vallecano still remain in Administration after previous owners, the Ruiz Mateos family empire went bankrupt.
That situation made the club riddled with debt of over €40m. It is strange that one of their administrators happens to be Javier Tebas, vice president of the League and the lawyer for Mediapro which owns the TV rights for the majority of the clubs in the
top two divisions. That is why the Rayo fans think because of this relationship they are handed the awkward schedules while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 and Real Madrid always play on the weekends.
The other thing that annoys the fans is the fact that when Presa took over the club in may 2011 he did not hand over a single penny and that raised doubts that Ruiz Mateos family is calling the shots and he is just a mere puppet to them.
Presa is also a controversial figure among the club faithful. He asked the former coach, Jose http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ramon-c30533 Sandoval, to return the bonus he was awarded for managing to promote the team to the Primera Division and then refused to renew his contract.
Presa also behaved ruthlessly when he again and again failed to keep his promises to the players regarding when they will receive their wages while he himself was taking a wobbling €200,000 in wages from the highly-indebted club.
Moreover, the bad feelings of the fans were increased last week when Presa gathered some of the shareholders for the club’s annual general meeting. Just six out of total 70 minority shareholders were present there. He received a positive reception from them.
This would not have happened if all the members attended.
Regardless of the tension and strive that exists between the man at helm of the club and its loyal supporters, the one thing that is positive at Estadio de Vallecas is the fact that Rayo Vallecano are great doing on the pitch.
They are currently sitting on the 8th position in the Primera division after they managed to accumulate 25 points. They are also 12 points clear of the drop zone and three points adrift of a place in Europe.
Therefore, one thing can surely cool the nerves of everyone involved with the club and that is they no longer have to constantly worry about the dangers of getting relegated from La Liga.
Club coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paco-c29025 Jemez, has surely done a fine work with the team and the future looks bright for the club.
