Why the colour green?

Question

I have noticed today that a lot of my high school peers were wearing green!! I was also wearing it, but i did not plan it in advance, just threw something on.

Most of the people wearing green were Afghan/Indian. (MOSTLY GUYS)

I am indian, and i dont know of any holiday today :S

Does anybody know why?

(P.S: This only happen today)

umm probably just coincidence. guys don't normally plan out what they wear with other guys.
