Why the debate on medal 'table' ?

Many ppl, probably from U.S. say total medals should be the way. Surely it's the amount of WINS any team has ? Example a basketball team wins 20 games and loses 20 by a single point. Team 'B' wins 21 games and loses 19 by 20 or more points. Team 'A' has a better pointts for/ against but would be lower on the table, as in soccer, baseball, etc.,etc.

  1. It seems like this question has become a FAQ.

The table should count the number of gold medals instead of total medal to be fair to other countries. However, if they like it, they can have a table which tabulate total number of medal. If you like it, you can tabulate a table according to alphabetical order.

  2. I'm not going to figure that out.

I would rather have 49 gold, 50 silver, 50 bronze than 50 gold, 0 silver and 0 bronze,

that's just me.  What ever works for you, I suggest you stick to what works for you and stop worrying or being concerned with what other do.

  3. If it's ALL about winning (first place), why then are they silver and bronze medals? Why not ONLY gold?

A better system would be a point rating (3 for gold, 2 for silver, 1 for bronze). By this system the US would lead with 195 points, followed by China with 190 points.

  4. i'm pure american and would much rather have more golds than more total medals. a country full of champions as opposed to a country full of 2nd and 3rd placers sounds much more appealing. i'll give china credit, they rocked the gold and i would rather switch medal places with them. but america still has a lot more golds than other nations, just not china.

  5. Why the debate on medal 'table' ?

You tell us, it's you foreigners bring it up every 10 minutes and seem to care why the U.S. does it differently...........for some odd reason. Mostly to use it as an excuse to bash America, very immature.

  6. The only way the US would use the official medal tally is if they were winning it.

  7. They should just count medals in the tally depending on the amount of players played on the are. 5 for basketball, 11 for soccer, etc,,, Anyway these are the sports that rock the world!

  8. I'm in utter shock at how many time you ask this question, your obsessed and it's not healthy.

The fact that you care so much indicates something is seriously wrong with you.

There is nothing you can say or do to make the U.S. change the way it counts medals, deal with it and move on.

  9. i have no clue what your talking about speak english next time that first sentence is confusing as h**l. and why does it have to be from U.S.
