Question:

Why the double standard w/Palin wanting "it all": marriage, family, career?

This applies with men and (most liberal) women alike. I've seen entirely too many questions and statements that she should stay home and take care of her family rather than pursue her career. What gives?

Before any of you go on about her "preaching" and "shoving" and "forcing" her beliefs/platform down your throats, save it. You didn't even know who she was a week ago. And, it's not what I'm asking.

Let's continue the conversation you have started: why should SHE stay home, but not the other candidates? Or any other career woman with children in this country? Is this just something for you to sink your teeth into, because she is the "opposition"? I'm interested in your feedback.

  1. There is incredible sexism in this election. It happened to both Hillary and now Palin. Some of the worst of it is actually coming from women!

  2. Terrible the way Hillary and Sarah have been treated.

I fear this will come back to haunt Democrats in November.

  3. It's just something for them to use in the "gotcha" game all politicians play. The left wing nuts are running scared because they know Palin is the final nail in Obama's coffin.

  4. She should stay home because it OBVIOUS she has no control over her family. And she's a hypocrite, I personally don't want a hypocrite and someone who can't keep control of their own lives in the second most powerful job in the world.

  5. No one has criticized her for that.  You've be reading something that isn't there or at least it's not coming from the left as you claim without proof I might add.

The left has, however, ridiculed her abstinence only stance.

A position that put her daughter (and other kids in her state) at risk of STD's and unwanted pregnancies. It doesn't work period.

  6. her being a woman who works is not a problem for me.  i assume her husband and support system will take up the slack, in that sense she is like many other families, republican and democrat alike.

in fact her v****a got her the nod, if she was a man with the same credentials, do you think mccain would have even considered her?

  7. this is a blatant double standard.  no one questioned this about Michelle, she is a working mother too.  no one question this about Biden, he was a single father raising two sons alone.  no one ever questions this about a man.  there are millions of working mothers. i am sure that all of them love their families and provide care for their kids while working.

the press has questioned this woman's abilities ti be a good mother and blaming bad parenting on her daughter's pregnancy?  how many millions of american families have faced this issue in the past and in the future.  attacking her will anger these parents will not be effective.

i am not a democrat but as a woman, i was appalled at the way the liberal press treated Hillary and how she was also treated by her own party.  Biden has 9000 votes when he withdrew, Hillary had 18 MILLION, yet she was not even considered for VP.  this angered many woman and i am curious where are the 'feminist' and why are they so silent now.  it seems that some woman are more critical than men where other strong women are concerned.  this is crazy also, this affects our daughters and their future too.  an african american can realize their dreams but not a woman?

wake up please and demand more respect for you Mothers, Sisters, and Daughters, because this affects ALL women, regardless of political affiliation.

  8. I completely agree with you Maudie. Personally, I think it is fine for her to be a working mother, just like so many other women have done. She does have a special needs baby, but that doesn't mean she needs to stay home. She will be able to hire help, and she has older daughters to help out too. Oh, and a husband. See, she isn't some single mom struggling to make things work. She is capable of handling the situation at hand. So many other women do this, and don't get judged for it, so why should it be different for her? Cause she is in politics? That's a lame reason. Guess if that's what you think, maybe we should not allow dads to be able to run...I mean, isn't their role just as important in a child's life?

For the record, I am a sahm, and do have a special needs child.

  9. The Elite Media aka MSM wants Obama to be president.  The Elite Media hates anyone representing the America's Heartland because the Elite Media hates America.  The Elite Media takes care of their own and destroy the rest.

  10. I'm a very traditional woman by today's standards, I didn't work till my kids were in full day school.  So take this from where it comes.

She has five kids, that's a job.  Her husband has them too.  Its a job being a dad.  She has a newborn with special needs.  A pregnant teen, who will be a mother by Christmas, and now a wedding too.

I've heard many a man and woman say they are leaving to spend more time with their family, its not a sin.

With all their problems I can't seriously take the position that she or he, needs a very busy prominent political position which will require that she or he travel a good deal, and stay up late a good deal.

Hillary's had one, teen daughter, and folks thought that was too much even with being just First Lady.

This is a national position, and last week her position on reproductive rights didn't matter, now she is in the heartbeat from the presidency position of a man who has already said he wants to pack the court to overturn Roe v Wade.  So she can be expected to continue that policy.

    Things change.

    Thats one of them.

Men and women both make mistakes about where they fit into their kids lives, society as a whole needs to pull back and prioritize their needs and ambitions with their desire to have kids, especially five of them.

  11. Good question.  Men candidates are never questioned about their ability to balance Public Office, family and marriage.....

  12. During WW2 women had to go into the workforce and help with the manfacturing of war supplies. When the men came home, the women did not want to give up their newly found independence, especially since it used to be their husbands way or else. Since that time, we now have children being raised by tv and video games, the mother has given up the job as nurturer and now has to work. It takes two incomes for the majority of Americans to survive. We have twice as many people in the work force, and ten times the problem with the kids. I am glad to see the Democrats finally admitting the mother should stay home and nurturer her children. This will also help with the employment problem and increase wages, by reducing our work force by half.

  13. I agree and I won't do it. I hold her husband accountable as well, at least 50%. She shouldn't have to stay home. There are stay at home dads and some prefer it. That's the beauty of this country: Freedom that really translate into greater choices for the life you want to lead.

I don't care for Palin's beliefs and values. I could never vote for her. She's a beautiful woman. But I go for substance, which doesn't seem to be there. There is power with someone admitting when they don't know something or don't have all the answers. No one can or should have all of the answers. It's impossible.

edit: Wait. Are the republicans acknowledging that sexism is still alive and active in this country? I thought we were all equal, at least according to the republicans.

  14. Many people are sexists.

Liberal elitist tend to be the worst racists and sexists because they think their liberal "enlightenment" immunizes them from such charges.

  15. This is the most intelligent question I have seen here in days.  Maybe in 2012 you should run for office, seriously.

  16. I don't agree with you.  I've seen very few people suggesting that there is something wrong with Palin wanting to have a family AND be a political leader.

My issues with her are about her politics, not her family.  If she were a man, that wouldn't be raised at all.

  17. To me, no double standard, I joke w my wife that she and Palin seem to share a lot in common (my wife is primary $$ in the family) and my wife keeps saying she's going to start Moose hunting.

I like Palin more than McCain (although I only know a little about her).

I dream of her challenging the Demo's to step outside and settle this.

  18. Shows glaringly what sexists the Obama worshipers really are.
