  1. We think of earthquakes as disasters, and occur only around Japan, China Taiwan, China mainland, Iran etc and the asian countries   but when they occur in populated areas; they are also a part of nature -- a result of the movement of the earth's crust it occors

Most earthquakes occur along the edge of the oceanic and continental plates. The earth's crust (the outer layer of the planet) is made up of several pieces, called plates. The plates under the oceans are called oceanic plates and the rest are continental plates. The plates are moved around by the motion of a deeper part of the earth (the mantle) that lies underneath the crust. These plates are always bumping into each other, pulling away from each other, or past each other. The plates usually move at about the same speed that your fingernails grow. Earthquakes usually occur where two plates are running into each other or sliding past each other.

  2. They don't. They happen all over the world wherever there are active fault systems, especially at tectonic plate boundaries. Some of these plate boundaries are in Asia. It's a very sad coincidence that the most recent round of big quakes have been in Asia.

  3. bcs they are Asia countries

  4. It is not always in Asia; there were bad earthquakes in North America (remember the one in 1989 in San Francisco), and the 2007 one in Peru (south America).

That said, if you took a map, you'd see that Asia is by far the largest continent, and also one the most populated (China and India by themselves account for 1/3 of the world population) so it is bound to have proportionally its share of quakes and casualties. And the Himalayas are the result of the Indian sub-continental plate slamming into the Asian one; that is good for a lot of seismic activities.

  5. Asia is the largest continent, so any land-based earthquakes would have the highest proportional probability of occurring there.

Also, much of Asia is covered in fault lines, such as the border between the Indian subcontinent and the landmass of mainland Asia, the area around the Mediterranean (where the Eurasia and African plates meet), and the Pacific Ring of Fire, which is also responsible for many volcanoes.

    It's mainly plate tectonics.
