e.g. Mamma Mia was written by Abba in 1974, five years before Queen wrote Bohemian Rhapsody where you can hear in the lyrics the words Mamma Mia.

You can also hear the name Scaramouch in the same song which is also another song from ABBA. Coincidence? I don't think so.

They even stole the name Queen from ABBA's hit single Dancing Queen.

Have you ever notice other similarities?

How about The winner takes it all and We are the champions?

I believe that all Queen carier based on ABBA acts.

  1. If Queen was going to steal, it would make more sense if they stole from a GOOD band.

Your theory is full of fail.

  2. The phrase ';Mamma Mia' is a very commonly used italian phrase. I wouldn't read too much into that. There's an italian restaurant near where I live called Mamma Mia and that's nothing to do with ABBA, it's like an expression of surprise in Italian. Scaramouche is another Italian word..well taken from teh italian word for 'skirmish', 'Scaramouche' refers to a character the italian theatre 'comeddia dell'arte'.

Bohemian Rhapsody uses a lot of italian words, not just those. And Mamma Mia was set in Italy. It's not strange and probably is a coincidence that both contain the same Italian words.

For the record, ABBA did a song called Scaramouche...well an instrumental recording anyway.

  3. A life. Get one. It is too early in the morning to deal with such arrant nonsense.

  4. Lots of bands make references to other songs/artists, that doesn't mean they're stealing.

  5. I really hope you are joking.  Queen was always a step ahead of everyone else, and they never copied anyone else.  It is actually the other way around, because more and more you hear Queen references in songs coming out these days.

Like someone else said, if Queen wanted to copy a band, they would have at least picked a good one.

  6. LOL! This is hilarious. It has to be a joke, right? Queen stole their name from ABBA's "Dancing Queen"? Ha ha ha!

ABBA sure does have a lot of B's in their name... B, b, b... BEATLES! ABBA stole their name from the Beatles! John and Paul should've sued those Swedish f*cks! hehe

  7. Is that you Bjorn?Maybe Benni?

  8. Um... Bohemian Rhapsody was written in 1975. They began recording it in August, and Mamma Mia wasn't released until September 1975. So unless you're proposing that Freddie broke into ABBA's recording studio and stole the tapes, your claim has no basis.

Dancing Queen was released in 1976, Queen formed in 1970...

The Winner Takes All was released in 1980, We Are the Champions was released in 1977.

You should have gotten your facts straight before you made such claims.

So really, for those last three, you should believe that ABBA copied from Queen.

  9. Mamma Mia is a common Italian phrase for "Oh Dear".

And I have a feeling that Freddy Mercury is rolling over in his grave because of this statement.  Bands often have similarities, but that doesn't mean they copied each other.

Simple Plan and Britney Spears each have a song called Everytime. Does that mean somebody copied somebody else?
