I noticed that most of the times , when there is frost & extremely crispy nights, the moon is either full or near full moon.

  1. When there is going to be a frost, the sky is likely clear. If you see the full moon you remark on this fact. If the moon is invisible you do not. Your impression is formed without careful record keeping.

It is well established that absence of cloud cover is the best secondary  predictor for frost, as it allows heat to radiate out into the dark night sky. Day of year is the best predictor.

Of course all bets are off on predicting when Bogota will have a frost, except it will be a cloud- free night.

  2. Coincidence.

  3. That is a myth.   Frost will appear whenever there is moisture and sub-zero temperature.   You can SEE it better in moonlight than dark, of course.

  4. yes I noticed that too but it makes for nice scenery though.

  5. there is no cloud cover - therefore the temperature drops - cloud cover acts like a blanket and keep the earth that little bit warmer

  6. Not really true.

The fact that you can see the see the moon also shows that its a clear night (No clouds etc) and this means that its going to be cold - Theres no clouds to keep the heat in, and without them you are more open to the coldness of Space.

  7. If it's cloudy you don't get frosts, and you can't see the moon.

  8. Simply because there is no cloud cover to keep in the warmth. Seeing the stars at night tells you it will be cold enough for frost in the winter!! x*x
