It's because the they are addicted to making profit and the only way to do so is ways that hurt the environment.

Because all America is concerned with is itself and only itself, except for trying to spread democracy to the entire globe even where its not wanted. They wont sign the Kyoto accords, and they wont make more fuel friendly cars and the president keeps putting more oil in the reserves to power the army, driving fuel and gasoline prices up. Lets face it...we dont care because it'll mess up the economy.

Because they are a very selfish nation. I have lived there for many many years.

This is a golbal problem, but they are all self.

Because frequently the people who seek political jobs are oriented to business-type thinking and haven't had a well-rounded life experience.  A lot of them just are poorly educated and don't have common sense.
